Winter walks near Oxfordshire
Winter is the perfect time to wrap up and explore the scenery around Oxfordshire. Whether it’s a romantic walk or a fun day out for all the family, there’s plenty of action for everyone to get involved in. Here are our favourite walks in the area. Riverside walk meets pub crawl, Port Meadow has a series of green fields lying next to the river. In the summer, locals love to swim here, and, in the winter, it transforms into a frosty beauty spot. You’ll stumble across The Perch and The Trout on your walk which are two of Oxford’s best pubs, how convenient for a stop off, or two!
One of the best kept secrets in Oxford, Mesopotamia translates to ‘between the rivers.’ It is a hidden beauty spot, but when you get there you will get to enjoy the brooks and birches around you.
Whether you opt for the winter walk or the wellie walk, there’s plenty to discover at Waddesdon. If all the walking gets too much, you can stop off at The Stables for a bowl of soup or a freshly made hot chocolate. All of the walking routes are downloadable, so you can make sure you are fully prepared before you arrive.
Ready for rambling? Perusing the parkland? You will find it all at Greys Park. There’s a 3KM walk, a natural play area, den-building area and plenty of other fun to get stuck into. Start out at the visitor centre and pick up information on everything going on.
